Roman Wilson delivered a big-time grab on Michigan’s first scoring drive against Maryland. Unfortunately, he sustained a hard hit and headed back to the locker room early in the game vs. the Terrapins.
On Michigan’s first touchdown drive of the game, Wilson came across the middle of the field and hung on for a huge 23-yard pickup. As Wilson was making the catch, Maryland’s Dante Trader Jr. delivered a blow and was originally flagged for targeting on the play.
That call went up to the booth for review with officials determining it wasn’t a targeting penalty. Though Trader did hit Wilson high, officials ruled it was not eligible for targeting as it appeared Trader led with his shoulder and to the side of Wilson’s shoulder.
After review there is no foul for targeting on this hit ⬇️

A bigger concern than the penalty will be the status of Wilson. He headed to the injury tent after sustaining the blow and was later escorted to the locker room per on-site reporters. We’ll see what his status looks like for the rest of the game after that hard hit.
Michigan WR Roman Wilson was in the medical tent after that big hit he took on his first down reception. He just emerged after some time and is now headed to the locker room.
