Freshman wide receiver Darrius Clemons showed off his upside in Michigan’s spring game on Saturday. His teammate, Ronnie Bell, loved every second of it.

In the second half of Saturday’s spring game in Ann Arbor, quarterback Alan Bowman launched a 35-yard touchdown pass to Clemons, an early enrollee and member of the 2022 recruiting class. Clemons had to make an acrobatic play on the ball to haul it in.

While the play unfolded, injured wide receiver Ronnie Bell was talking with sideline reporter Devin Gardner. After watching his teammate make the impressive grab, Bell raced off the interview to congratulate Clemons.

So, what was better? The catch or the reaction?

Bell was injured in Michigan’s season opener last year. He’s expected to be ready to play this fall, providing Michigan’s receiving corps with a huge boost.

Clemons was a 4-star wide receiver in the 2022 class, ranking as the No. 24 player at his position. Even in a crowded receiver room, the true freshman might be able to carve out a role for himself.
