It remains to be seen whether or not Chase Winovich will be able to play against Ohio State, but at least one teammate thinks he’ll go in the rivalry game.
The defensive lineman was initially banged up in the win over Indiana. He was able to walk off the field under his own power but was sent to the locker room early for x-rays.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh addressed the injury at his weekly press conference. He said x-rays were negative, but the team is continuing to evaluate Winovich every day.
While fans wait for more updates on Winovich, quarterback Shea Patterson was asked about the status of his injured teammate after Tuesday’s practice. Patterson admitted the team was unsure of Winovich’s progress at this point, but he believes it would take a lot to keep him from playing against the Buckeyes.
Angelique Chengelis with The Detroit News shared Patterson’s comments:
“(You’d) have to kill him to take him out,” Patterson said Tuesday night after practice. “We’re not really sure his progress yet. He’s a tough guy…I’ve talked to him, he says he’s feeling better. I’d assume he’d play, but you never know the severity of it…Knowing him, I think he’ll play.”
Hopefully Winovich can get healthy enough to contribute against Ohio State.
