Shea Patterson passes head coach Jim Harbaugh on Michigan's all-time list with trick play
Shea Patterson is still climbing up Michigan’s all-time passing list, making a move early in the first quarter of the Citrus Bowl.
Facing Alabama in the bowl game, Patterson’s climb occurred on one unique trick play. The play was a flea-flicker, but with the added wrinkle of a direct snap to the running back.
The added wrinkle worked, freezing the defense and pulling up a couple of defenders on the snap. That left Donovan Peoples-Jones wide open in the middle of the field for a big gain:

That play pushed Patterson to seventh on Michigan’s all-time passing list. Making it a bit more special, Patterson passed his head coach, Jim Harbaugh, on the play:
With that latest pass, @SheaPatterson_1 now has the 7th-most career passing yards in Michigan history — passing @CoachJim4UM. #GoBlue 〽️

Patterson drove the offense all the way down and punched in a touchdown off a short throw to tight end Nick Eubanks. Congratulations to Patterson on a strong career, and hopefully, the Wolverines can keep putting up a strong day against Alabama.
