Nobody saw that coming on Saturday night. Maybe the Michigan locker room expected to manhandle Wisconsin inside the Big House walls, but it was an unexpected result for the rest of us.

The Wolverines trounced the Badgers in Ann Arbor, posting a 38-13 win to improve to 6-1 with a perfect 4-0 mark in the B1G. The defense was overpowering and the offense was clicking.

In other words, Michigan made a statement on Saturday night. And it came at Wisconsin’s expense. Shea Patterson wasn’t afraid to talk about how dominant his team was after the game, either.

“We knew coming into this game that everything was ahead of us and we control our own destiny,” Patterson said, per Angelique Chengelis of the Detroit News. It was a huge win for us tonight. It was a statement game. We came out and kinda gave it to them a little bit. We didn’t just win, we kinda dominated them.”

Patterson is absolutely right.

Michigan racked up 320 rushing yards and controlled the tempo, holding onto the football for 37 minutes. The defense forced two turnovers and Alex Hornibrook completed just 7-of-20 passes for 100 yards.

Nobody does that to Wisconsin. Go ahead and insert that Jim Harbaugh GIF wherever you’d like.

Saturday’s win over the Badgers gives the Wolverines some legitimacy, especially as it continues in a pivotal stretch. Next week, they’ll take on Michigan State. The Maize and Blue will then have a bye week before hosting Penn State.

There’s still a lot to prove, but Michigan deserves some national recognition for its performance on Saturday night. Because the Wolverines didn’t just “kinda dominate them,” they absolutely steamrolled Wisconsin.
