Shea Patterson: Wolverines didn't live up to their standard despite win in Week 1
Michigan did enough to come away with a solid win in Week 1, but quarterback Shea Patterson knows the team is capable of much more.
Middle Tennessee proved to be a tougher than expected opponent that never quit. The Blue Raiders kept fighting throughout and did not give anything to the Wolverines.
Fortunately, Michigan was able to pull away and wound up with a comfortable 40-21 win. Patterson was a big part of that with over 200 yards of offense and three touchdowns. However, Patterson knows the standards for himself and Michigan are even higher.

When discussing the outcome, Patterson said the win was nice but everyone in the locker room is aiming to play at a higher standard:
Shea Patterson after the game: “A win is a win, but I don’t think anyone in that locker room felt like we lived up to our standard.”
“… We’ve got to play better. I’ve got to play better.”

Michigan will move on to face Army next Saturday. Hopefully, the team comes out fired up to put up an even stronger showing in Week 2.
