Sherrone Moore addresses what went into emotional outburst following PSU win
Sherrone Moore had a lot placed on his shoulders in Week 11. Already the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for Michigan, Moore was given the reins as acting head coach in place of suspended head coach Jim Harbaugh.
The Wolverines responded as Moore guided the program to a 24-15 win on the road against Penn State. Immediately following the game, Moore delivered an emotional shoutout to Jim Harbaugh laced with profanity in his postgame interview.
During his press conference, Moore admitted he’s usually calm but had a lot of emotions while wearing his heart on his sleeve:
“I’m a pretty calm guy, but there are a lot of emotions. Being here 6 years, I feel like this place is home. What Coach Harbaugh has done for me: He’s given me an opportunity to be here and this whole university and these players and these fans,” said Moore. “This place is like home to me… So it’s very deep.
“I wear my heart on my sleeve. Worked extremely hard as we all did, so it means a lot for us to get this win in this situation. To show that and make it about the players, we have elite players, elite university. I’m just so happy for them.”
Asked if the moment was a release, Moore said it was a bit after things building throughout the game. He pointed to watching Michigan’s hard work come to fruition throughout the game.
“Yeah, I think it was built up. Just thinking about our players, how hard they’ve worked through all this craziness and all this situation that’s going on,” Moore explained. “How hard they have worked and the realization of that come to fruition and watching it come to fruition against a great football team. That football team is really good: Offensively, defensively, special teams. In all 3 phases, they’re as elite as they come, so for us to come into this environment and win is huge.
“I just think about coach, man. Love that man with all my heart… Just wanted to do it for him.”
