Sherrone Moore gives injury update on star cornerback Will Johnson
Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines got a big 27-24 victory against USC on Saturday, with cornerback Will Johnson playing a huge role in the game. Johnson took an interception back 42 yards for a touchdown that gave the Wolverines a 10-point lead in the 3rd quarter.
However, he was forced to leave the game early with an injury, and he did not return to action late in the game. Fortunately, Moore gave a positive injury update after the game.
That’s certainly good news with Johnson serving as one of Michigan’s top cover men in the passing defense. Johnson already has 2 pick-6s on the season.
“He came back and he could have (gone) back in but we held him,” Moore said. “He’s in a good place. I thought those other guys did an outstanding job.”
Getting the win against USC was obviously big for the Wolverines on Saturday. However, getting the news that Johnson is healthy and could have went back in the game is also very positive news.
Johnson is as good of pro prospect as there is in college football. With the third quarter touchdown, he now has more touchdowns scored (3), than he has allowed in his career (2).
The Wolverines look to have Johnson back next weekend as they host the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday at the Big House.
