Sherrone Moore and JJ McCarthy shared an emotional embrace in the moments after Michigan’s Rose Bowl win over Alabama.

McCarthy has taken some criticism at times this season despite Michigan’s 14-0 record, but he came up clutch in the 4th quarter against the Crimson Tide on Monday. McCarthy led a game-tying touchdown drive to send the game into overtime. He finished with 3 touchdowns and 0 turnovers on the night.

Here’s video of McCarthy’s celebration with his offensive coordinator after the game:

Michigan’s offense had a very strong night overall against the Crimson Tide’s vaunted defense. The Wolverines averaged 5.9 yards per play in the comeback victory.

After the game, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh called McCarthy the greatest college quarterback in Michigan history. With McCarthy under center, Michigan will play in its first national title game ever next Monday night in Houston.

Michigan will face either Washington or Texas in the national championship. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 8.
