Team award winners announced at Michigan football banquet
Michigan’s annual team banquet was eventful, there’s no denying that.
In addition to Michigan announcing its award winner for the 2016 campaign, head coach Jim Harbaugh emphatically shot down any rumors that he is interested in leaving Ann Arbor for a position with the Los Angeles Rams.
Harbaugh: I'm not leaving Michigan. Not even considering it. A lot of this talk is coming from our enemies, from coaches, you know the names

Harbaugh: You know the top three (coaches) I'm talking about. We know them as jive turkeys…. That's the way it is.

He believes the rumor was spread by rival coaches but did not mention any names on Tuesday night.
Once that settled down, the team announced its award winners. Here’s who claimed an honor at the team’s 96th annual banquet. Eight players earned hardware on Tuesday night for their efforts this season.
- Scout Team Player of the Year – Anthony Dalimonte
- Most Improved Player – Wilton Speight
- Dr. Arthur D. Robinson Scholarship Award – Grant Newsome
- Spirit Award – Grant Newsome
- Most Valuable Linebacker – Ben Gedeon
- Defensive Lineman of the Year – Ryan Glasglow & Chris Wormley
- Most Valuable Offensive Lineman – Erik Magnuson
- Most Valuable Player – Jabrill Peppers
Harbaugh also took time to thank and honor the seniors from this year’s team.
After such an interesting season, who really expected this event to be just an awards banquet? Even after the season, Harbaugh found a way to give his team a bit of an edge.
