Jim Harbaugh was able to flip a three-star tight end on Sunday as Ben VanSumeren opted to decommit from Iowa and give his verbal pledge to Michigan on Sunday.

VanSumeren announced via Twitter that he’d be decommitting from the Hawkeyes and would sign with the Maize and Blue. The three-star tight end was offered by the Wolverines only a few days ago.

VanSumeren is technically listed as a tight end/linebacker, according to 247Sports. He’s a Michigan product and considered to be on of the top athletes from the state.

At 6-foot-3, 228 pounds, VanSumeren had 13 total offers, most from teams outside the Power Five conferences. In addition to his offers from Iowa and Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa State, Missouri and West Virginia also showed interest at the Power Five level.

The decision to commit to Michigan comes just a month after committing to Iowa.

VanSumeren becomes the 17th pledge for the Wolverines’ 2018 class, currently ranked third in the B1G and 12th nationally.
