One of the top linebackers in the 2021 recruiting class is heading to Michigan.

The Wolverines landed a verbal commitment from 4-star linebacker Branden Jennings, who is listed as one of the Top 100 overall prospects in the 2021 class, per 247Sports. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Jennings announced his decision with a social media post on Friday.

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Jennings held offers from major programs like Clemson, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas, USC and Wisconsin. In total, 42 programs made an offer to the 4-star linebacker.

Jennings is listed as the No. 6 outside linebacker in the 2021 class and ranks No. 82 overall, regardless of position. He’s also the No. 13 prospect out of the state of Florida, which is loaded with talented.

From 247Sports recruiting analyst Barton Simmons:

Long levered, thick linebacker with bulk to naturally play in the middle and the frame to potentially grow into an edge rusher. Pops on tape with his physicality and violence on contact. One of the hardest hitters in the 2021 recruiting cycle. Plays with great effort and motor. Attacks blockers with physicality. Efforts to re-route receiving threats. Good range between the tackles, thanks in part to wing span.

During Jennings’ 2018 season at the high school level, he was credited with a total of 136 tackles and 6 sacks. In 2019, he was an All-First Coast first-team selection.

With Jennings’ pledge, Michigan is up to 21 commitments in the 2021 recruiting class. The Wolverines rank No. 2 in the B1G and No. 7 nationally.
