Michigan fended off some of its biggest rivals to land the newest member of its 2020 recruiting class.

On Sunday morning, the Wolverines received a verbal pledge from three-star athlete William Mohan out of Brooklyn. He was a big target for several B1G and ACC programs, but ultimately picked Michigan over Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Boston College, Miami and others.

Mohan became the 11th player in the 2020 class to commit to the Wolverines. He made his announcement via Twitter.

“I would like to announce that I am committing to the University of Michigan,” Mohan wrote on Twitter. He also shared photos donning the maize and blue uniform.

Mohan is listed as one of the top 30 athletes in the 2020 class and sits just outside the top 400 overall players, coming in at No. 415, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He’s the third-best player out of New York.

In the month of June, Michigan has landed commitments from three players to bring its overall total to 11 players. The Wolverines currently own the fourth-ranked class in the B1G and 23rd overall.

Michigan’s 2019 class was the best in the B1G, ending Ohio State’s nearly decade-long run of the conference’s top-ranked recruiting classes.
