'Trouble with the snap': Sean McDonough dials up infamous call on Michigan's final snap of Fiesta Bowl
By now, Michigan fans far and wide will request that ESPN broadcaster Sean McDonough does not call any Wolverine games for the foreseeable future.
Heading into Saturday’s Fiesta Bowl, McDonough already had the credit for one of the most infamous plays in Michigan history. That would be the first “trouble with the snap” call, a botched punt attempt that gave Michigan State the wildest of walk-off wins years ago.
Unfortunately for Jim Harbaugh and company, McDonough’s call made a reappearance late in the College Football Playoff semifinal against TCU. Trailing the Horned Frogs 51-45 with less than a minute to go, Michigan faced a 4th-and-10 with the game on the line.
With McDonough on the mic, you already know how this one was destined to play out. Yep, make it “trouble with the snap,” the encore, with a botched snap resulting in a turnover on downs and sending TCU to the national championship game.

While Michigan’s defense fell flat on the national stage, the offense also had moments of struggles with JJ McCarthy throwing a pair of pick-sixes in the loss. That’s a rough way for the Wolverines to go out.
