Michigan is up early on the road thanks to one electric play from a true freshman.

Giles Jackson is a freshman 5-foot-9 speedster out of California, and he showed off every bit of his blazing speed on this return. Jackson received the opening kickoff inside his five-yard line with a shot at a great return.

Thanks to great blocking, only one Maryland player really had a shot at Jackson. He made that man miss with a quick cut to the outside and was gone down the sideline.

His return went for 97 yards with Jackson outracing every Terrapin for a quick 7-0 lead:

Jackson was a four-star recruit in the 2019 class. The 247 Sports Composite Rankings had Jackson as the No. 41 overall WR for the class and his speed is a big part of his game. He also has three catches for 31 yards and a touchdown with the offense.
