Florida will be without two more players for the season opener against Michigan, according to multiple sources.

On Wednesday, the official Twitter account of the Gators football team tweeted that Jim McElwain has suspended running back Jordan Scarlett and wide receiver Rick Wells from all team activities. There was no reason behind the suspensions.

That now makes 10 players suspended for the Gators for the season opener, which includes star wide receiver Antonio Callaway.

Scarlett was the team’s leading rusher last season, totaling 889 yards and six touchdowns on 179 carries. He was Florida’s top offensive weapon considering the absence of Callaway.

Wells was expected to have a big year for the Gators, despite missing all of the 2016 campaign. But it looks like he’s going to have to wait a little longer before he makes an impact.

The game against Michigan was tough enough when the Gators were at full strength. Without some of their most powerful players, beating Michigan gets even more difficult on Saturday.
