Ohio State is the second-best team in the country according to the pollsters. Not far behind is arch-rival Michigan, a team that’s been solid in the No. 4 spot for the past few weeks.

And by the eye test, the Buckeyes look to be deserving of that two-spot edge over the Wolverines. But not everyone believes that OSU is the team to beat in the B1G.

USA Today writer Nicole Auerbach believes that Michigan is currently the top team in the conference, citing the win over the Wisconsin as evidence. From her story:

It should be obvious that Michigan and Ohio State are Playoff-caliber teams, at least from what we’ve seen so far. And though there’s no faults to find with the Buckeyes, we’re going to give the edge to the team with the most impressive victory thus far. And that’s Michigan, over Wisconsin.

Ohio State will have plenty of time to notch more impressive wins, with the Badgers and the Wolverines and Nebraska still left on the schedule.

For now, though, you can’t dispute that Michigan does have the best win on its resume of the two programs.
