A collective of B1G coaches held a video call with commissioner Tony Petitti Wednesday to discuss the recent situation at Michigan.

According to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the call followed regularly scheduled B1G business when Jim Harbaugh exited the call to allow coaches to “speak freely” as the above report indicates.

The report also states that multiple sources said the meeting was met with multiple calls for Petitti to take immediate action against Michigan. Much of the meeting was spent explaining to Petitti how much of an advantage the sign-stealing gave Michigan.

“I don’t think the Big Ten understood how upset everyone was,” one source told Thamel. “The tenor of the call was asking the Big Ten to show leadership — the conference and the presidents. An unprecedented violation of the rules would require unprecedented action from the Big Ten.”

It seems unlikely that Petitti will punish the Wolverines before the end of the season, though he technically has the ability to. Instead, the conference is likely to take their time addressing each aspect of the investigation.

The Wolverines are currently the No. 3 team in college football behind Ohio State and Georgia, ahead of Florida State, Washington and Oregon. Michigan has dominated every game it has played against obviously overmatched competition.
