The college football world was turned on its head on September 1, 2007.

Michigan entered its game against Appalachian State as the No. 5 team in the county, while the Mountaineers entered No. 1 in the FCS. The Vegas betting line predicted a lopsided victory for Michigan.

App State dominated the first half 28-17, and Michigan came out firing in the second half, even taking the 32-31 lead late in the game. The Mountaineers then kicked a field goal to go ahead 34-32, and then, the blocked kick heard ’round the world happened.
