Jim Harbaugh is no stranger to loopy press conference soundbites. The Michigan head coach has certainly provided some during his four years in Ann Arbor.

But Monday’s response to a Homecoming question might be one of the strangest we’ve heard. At least in awhile.

This week, Michigan is hosting its Homecoming game Saturday against Maryland. So one reporter asked what the event and the day meant to Harbaugh. And that’s when we got this gem.

“It’s one of the great words in the English language,” Harbaugh said. “People coming back, whether it’s a reunion or a get-together of a family. That’s one of the top words in the English language.”

There was dead silence after the remark.

Yeah, that response is probably right up there with any of the crazy things Harbaugh has said in his career.

Michigan plays host to Maryland on Saturday. The Wolverines defeated Northwestern 20-17 last week while the Terrapins enjoyed a bye. The Terps defeated Minnesota in their B1G opener two weeks ago.

Saturday’s matchup is set for noon ET.
