Jim Harbaugh didn’t get riled up or animated when he was asked about Michigan’s record vs. Michigan State and Ohio State on Monday. There wasn’t much excitement in his voice, he was just very matter of fact.

“We know what the record is,” Harbaugh said at his press conference on Monday. “Against Michigan State, Ohio State we’re 1-4, against all other opponents we’re 23-3.”

There was no lashing out or pointing the finger. Harbaugh owned up to Michigan’s struggles against the Spartans and the Buckeyes and understands those are the games that the Wolverines need to win.

In today’s climate of college football, it’s somewhat applaud-worthy that Harbaugh didn’t get animated or dismiss the question. He was about as professional as you could imagine.

Michigan will have a chance to improve the 1-4 record vs. its rivals this season, as Ohio State still remains on the schedule.

If the Wolverines can’t find a way to win that one and go 0-3 vs. the Buckeyes in Harbaugh’s first three seasons, he might not be so calm when asked about the record again.
