It happens after every win. in the locker room following each victory, Jim Harbaugh yells out for players to celebrate by giving teammates high fives. Saturday was the sixth time Michigan has done it this season.

The sixth was undoubtedly the most special.

Michigan posted a 21-7 win over in-state rival Michigan State, proving it’s a contender in the B1G East and in the CFB Playoff race. The Wolverines are bringing Paul Bunyan back to Ann Arbor and now, following Ohio State’s loss to Purdue, they sit atop the B1G East standings.

Sunday morning is pretty sweet in Ann Arbor.

Michigan still has two major challenges remaining on its schedule. On Saturday it hosts Penn State. In a month, the Wolverines travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State.

But Harbaugh and Co. control their own destiny. Win out and Michigan is going to the B1G Championship Game with a chance to earn a bid in the College Football Playoff.

There’s still a month of football left, but there’s plenty to celebrate at Michigan right now.
