Sometimes you just have to live to see another play in football. That’s what one Rutgers defended decided to do Saturday afternoon against Michigan.
Rutgers defender K.J. Gray — No. 17 in the video — was running up to try and make a tackle on Michigan running back Karan Higdon. But in front of Higdon was big offensive lineman Mike Onwenu.
It was a matchup Gray knew he couldn’t win. So, instead of getting plowed over by the Wolverines’ offensive lineman, the Scarlet Knight defensive back decided he’d just fall over, and pretend to make a play on the ball-carrier.

Just so you’re aware of the size difference, Onwenu is 6-foot-3, 350 pounds. Gray is 6-foot-1, 205 pounds.
Yeah, just taking a dive was probably a smart move for Gray, even if it cost the Scarlet Knights a few extra yards.
