Gabe Treve made it his goal to walk across the field at Michigan Stadium. An 11-year-old cancer survivor who has been using a power chair for over six years, didn’t want anything to stand in his way.

Recently, Treve turned that goal into a reality.

The 11-year-old was diagnosed with leukemia at age 5 and, while undergoing treatment, suffered from a rare drug reaction that paralyzed him. He became a patient at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, where staff treated the reaction put Treve through physical therapy, helping him gain back some of his strength.

Treatments and physical therapy helped, as Treve was able to start walking again, a few feet at a time with the assistance of walking braces. But one day, while Treve was on the field at Michigan Stadium, he was determined to accomplish his goal of walking end zone to end zone on the home turf of his favorite football team.

This video, provided by Michigan Health, captured that moment.

Treve’s story is absolutely remarkable. His determination is second to none. This is one of those feel-good stories everyone needs to see.
