WATCH: Shannon Sharpe compares Jim Harbaugh in Year 3 to where Nick Saban, Urban Meyer were at
Jim Harbaugh just completed his first game in Year 4 as coach of the Michigan Wolverines.
His No. 14 team lost to No. 12 Notre Dame. It was a less-than-ideal start to the season. But, rewind one year.
Year 3 for Harbaugh resulted in an 8-5 season and people questioning the coach’s abilities became the norm. After all, look at what Nick Saban did in Year 3 at Alabama. Look at what Urban Meyer did in Year 3 at Ohio State.
FOX Sports’ Shannon Sharpe compared Harbaugh’s Year 3 to Saban’s and Meyer’s and the Michigan coach wasn’t even close. Going 8-5 isn’t the same as winning national titles, which Saban and Meyer did.
“Urban Meyer took over a team that was 6-7, and 3 years later [they] won a National Championship. Saban took over Alabama, they were 6-7, and 3 years later they won a National Championship. Harbaugh took over a team that was 5-7, and 3 years later he won 8 games.” —@ShannonSharpe pic.twitter.com/5bzKUlhaeX

Aside from comparing Harbaugh to arguably the two best coaches in the sport, Sharpe ended his argument with this:
“Things are going to get worse for him. Cause you’ve got Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan State. And you know those guys are going to rally around Urban because they tried to get Urban up out of there. Urban’s going to hang 50 on them.”
If Harbaugh and the Wolverines, lose each of those games and allow 50-plus to Ohio State, the moans and groans will only get louder.
