Michigan started its 2018 campaign with a punishing loss to Notre Dame.

The Fighting Irish controlled not just the game itself, but the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. It looked like Michigan wasn’t ready to be a competitive football team.

Five weeks later, the Wolverines have won five straight games and are now 5-1. The team’s latest victory came on Saturday against Maryland, when Michigan won 42-21.

Quarterback Shea Patterson was an efficient 19-of-27 for 282 yards and 3 TD. Running back Karan Higdon did his damage on the ground as well, taking 25 carries for 103 yards.

Michigan’s defense allowed 21 points, but turned Maryland over once and held the Terrapins to converting just 5-of-13 attempts on third down.
