Will Johnson invites a lot of attention as a Michigan cornerback wearing the No. 2 jersey. For many U-M fans, No. 2 will always be Charles Woodson. Johnson shared Tuesday that the Heisman Trophy winner recently offered a motivating message of support.

Woodson was part of the FOX crew covering Michigan’s “Big Noon Saturday” game against Maryland. Johnson told reporters Tuesday that during that Week 4 contest, Woodson told him to go make a play and show why he was wearing the number.

A true freshman, Johnson has played in all 5 games of the 2022 season so far. Though he has yet to log a turnover, Johnson does have 5 tackles, including 3 in the Week 5 win over Iowa.

A Detroit native, Johnson was rated 5-stars, the No. 1 recruit in the state of Michigan, No. 3 cornerback and No. 15 prospect overall in the class of 2023 on the 247Sports composite rankings.

U-M fans certainly hope to see Johnson make some plays that remind them of the legendary No. 2.
