The criticism Michigan has come under since a blowout loss to Wisconsin has been heavy, to say the very least. The questions about what’s wrong in Ann Arbor has swarmed the program.
So, how do the Wolverines get rid of that mindset and prove they’re still a contender in the East? Linebacker Josh Uche has a fairly simple answer.
“Winning cures everything,” Uche told MLive.com. “Coach Harbaugh just said winning’s cured more illnesses than penicillin.
“If he says it, why not believe him?”
There’s a lot of truth in what Uche says, but obviously the execution of winning games isn’t quite as easy as making the statement. And when you take a glance at Michigan’s schedule, the task seems even more daunting.
Five ranked opponents remain on Michigan’s schedule, and that doesn’t even include games against an improved Illinois, an explosive Maryland and a pesky Indiana team. Wins in the final nine games are going to be difficult to come by, especially based on what we’ve seen from this team through three weeks.
But, occasionally, these kind of losses can light a fire. Just look at Ohio State in 2014 (Virginia Tech) or Penn State in 2016 (Michigan). Both of those teams suffered ugly losses and found a way to win the B1G. Who’s to say the same can’t happen in Ann Arbor?
Winning does cure everything. And if Michigan can find a way to resurrect itself into a contender, then all of this talk about the Wisconsin game will be almost irrelevant at the end of the year.
