Zak Zinter decided that Thursday was the right time to move on from Michigan football and go pro.

After a national championship season, Zinter is heading to the NFL. He started on the offensive line all 4 seasons that he was with the Wolverines. Zinter last played against Ohio State before suffering a season-ending lower-leg injury. Michigan saw action from Zinter in 45 games with 42 starts from 2020-2023.

Here’s what Zinter said in his farewell note to the program:

“Michigan Nation, the memories and friendships that I have created over the past 4 years will last a lifetime. I cannot put into words how thankful I am to be able to wear the winged helmet and earn my degree from the best University in the country,” said Zinter.

“First, I want to thank family and friends who showed up for me week after week, especially my mom and dad who never missed a game throughout my career… It meant the world and I can’t imagine this journey without each of you.

“…I am grateful to have left my legacy as a captain and a Michigan Man. This would not be possible without my faith and God’s plan in my life. Isaiah 41:10. With that being said, I will be officially declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft.”

Zinter ended his Michigan career on a high note, even though he wasn’t able to be on the field with his teammates this postseason. The Wolverines beat Washington to win the national championship as Zinter prepares for the next step of his playing career.
