Zak Zinter has been a rock for Michigan’s offensive line throughout his career. Unfortunately, the veteran contributor left The Game against Ohio State after a devastating leg injury.

Zinter was eventually carted off of the field, and the FOX broadcast later said he had been taken to the hospital. The broadcast also declined to show replays due to the graphic nature of the injury.

Saturday evening, the severity of Zinter’s injury has been revealed. His mother — Tiffany Zinter — shared on Instagram that Zak is undergoing surgery Saturday evening to repair a broken tibia and fibula. She expressed her thanks to everyone who has reached out and asked for prayers for a complete recovery.

“Update on Zak headed into surgery now. Please pray for Zak’s surgeons, the surgery, a (perfect) recovery and for him to understand the injury! Broken tibia and (fibula)…

“On the bright side… he’s 3-0 against OSU! This is a TEAM and a brotherhood! They FaceTimed him from the locker room while he was in the ER, true brothers! Love this TEAM and FAMILY!”

Immediately after Zinter’s injury, Blake Corum raced for a crucial touchdown run and threw up 6-5 at the camera — Zinter’s jersey number.
