Things went pretty well for Michigan on Thursday night, defeating Montana 74-55 to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It was also a huge evening for Zavier Simpson.

He’ll likely own the seventh spot all to himself during Michigan’s Round of 32 matchup against Florida.

Simpson’s 10 assists was also the eighth time this season he’s hit double figures in that stat column, becoming the first Michigan player to achieve that mark.

For the year, Simpson is averaging 6.7 assists per game but has stepped it up tremendously since the B1G Tournament. In the three conference tournament games and one NCAA Tournament game, the guard has dished out 40 assists, averaging 10 per contest.

He’s scored 35 points over the last four games, as well.

Over the last 10 games, Simpson has recorded 87 assists and has registered at least 10 assists in six of those contests. He has a chance to record his third-straight game with a double-digit assist total on Saturday against the Gators.
