Four-year Michigan guard Zavier Simpson finds himself in some elite company in Wolverines basketball history.

With Michigan’s 60-52 win over Rutgers on Wednesday, Simpson hit a new milestone, scoring 1,000 points and dishing 500 assists for his career with the Maize and Blue. He’s just the fourth player in Michigan history to hit the two marks in a career.

Simpson finished Wednesday night’s game with 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Michigan was the first team to defeat Rutgers on its home floor during the 2019-20 season.

The four Michigan players to hit 1,000 points and 500 assists in a career are now:

  • Zavier Simpson (2016-2020)
  • Gary Grant (1985-1988)
  • Rumeal Robinson (1988-1990)
  • Antoine Joubert (1984-1987)

Michigan is now 17-9 on the season and sits 8-7 in B1G play.
