Michigan State is in the mix for one of the top overall talents in the 2022 recruiting class.

Tuesday, 5-star power forward Kijani Wright revealed his Top 7 schools, only one of which was from the B1G. Michigan State was that lone school, along with Texas, USC, Florida State, Arkansas, Stanford and Kansas from other leagues.

Wright is listed as a 6-foot-9, 220-pound power forward out of Los Angeles. According to 247Sports, he ranks as the No. 11 overall prospect in the cycle, earning a 5-star ranking. He’s also listed as the No. 2 power forward.

From 247Sports recruiting analyst Brandon Jenkins:

One of the best rebounders in the high school game, Wright is a physically gifted big man whose combination of strength, size, and IQ is unmatched in the west coast high school scene right now. Controlling the boards is a priority for him as he fully takes advantage of his massive frame and plays with great aggressiveness when battling inside.

Michigan State’s class is already in good shape for the 2022 cycle. The Spartans landed 5-star small forward Emoni Bates in June 2020, the nation’s top-ranked prospect in the class.
