AJ Hoggard is a veteran contributor for Michigan State and the starting point guard for the Spartans. Unfortunately, even a seasoned veteran is not immune from embarrassing mistakes.

On Thursday, the Spartans began their NCAA Tournament run with a matchup against Mississippi State. Hoggard took the court in his usual role but something just seemed a bit off.

Pictures of Hoggard quickly surfaced of Hoggard’s uniform shorts, and it looks like Hoggard began the game with his shorts on backwards. His shorts featured the Spartan logo facing backwards on his right hip while the logo was facing forward and on the left hip of his teammates.

On some uniforms, that may seem like a fairly common or forgivable mistake, but that’s not the case for this uniform. The Spartans have white striping on the right side of their uniforms that stretches from the underarm all the way down the shorts. The left side of the uniform is solid green except for the white Spartan logo on the shorts.

The good news is someone eventually alerted Hoggard to the situation. He returned to action at one point in the first half with his shorts on correctly but not before the internet had a good laugh.

As for the game on the court, ESPN Bet had Michigan State as a 1.5-point favorite ahead of tipoff, and the Spartans appear heading toward another March victory under Tom Izzo. Michigan State holds a comfortable lead in the second half, and fans can continue to track the March Madness odds and trends with Tradition’s Michigan sportsbooks.
