Ben VanSumeren will leave Michigan State and declare for the 2023 NFL Draft.

VanSumeren, who is a linebacker, will exit the program after 2 seasons in East Lansing, Michigan. He will get set for a professional football career.

After 3 seasons at Michigan, VanSumeren transferred to Michigan State in May 2021. He spent the last 2 seasons at Michigan State. VanSumeren explained his decision to declare for the NFL draft.

“First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunities that have been presented to me. Without him, none of this would be possible,” VanSumeren said. “I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, trainers, advisors, and support staff past and present. I appreciate all of you. I especially want to thank Coach Tucker for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to become a Spartan dawg. My time in East Lansing has been remarkable. With that being said, it is time for me to take the next step to fulfilling my dream. I am declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.”

In 2022, VanSumeren finished the season with 81 total tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 pass breakups. VanSumeren was 3rd on the team in tackles this season.

He will get ready for the next chapter in his football career.
