Cal Haladay has developed a knack for being in the right place at the right time for Michigan State’s defense. The star linebacker dialed up that skill set once again Saturday night, stepping into the right space at the right time for a key takeaway.
Early in the second half vs. Iowa, Michigan State’s defense forced a fumble on a short running play. That ball bounced off two Spartans and into the arms of Haladay.
He quickly burst into the open field before the offense could recover, and he finished off the scoop-and-score by carrying one Hawkeye into the end zone.

That score is Haladay’s 3rd defensive touchdown of his career after he scored a pair of pick-6 touchdowns during the 2021 season. The LB is now tied for the Spartan program record for defensive touchdowns with 3 to his tally.

With Michigan State’s offense bottled up at times, the Spartans have used special teams and Haladay’s defensive score for a 16-10 lead.
