After the Washington Wizards drafted Cassius Winston in the second round of the NBA Draft, they have officially signed him to his rookie contract.

The announcement came from the Washington Wizards official Twitter account Saturday:

Winston was one of the best picks in the NBA Draft and it comes with good reason as he’s the Big Ten all-time leader in assists. He also has the most assists in Michigan State basketball’s history as well.

During Winston’s senior year as a Spartan, he averaged 18.6 points per game and 5.9 assists per game as well. For his career as a Spartan, he averaged 14.2 points per game with 6.4 assists per game as well.

Winston will make his Wizards debut when the next NBA season kicks off in late December.

Signing a two-way contract means Winston will likely spend some time in the G-League as well and will have to work his way onto Washington’s full-time NBA roster. With a good shooting stroke and excellent court vision, Winston has the tools needed to put in the work.
