Chris Fallica is keeping tabs on Michigan State’s run into the Sweet 16, and uncovered a historic nugget about the Spartans as they once again look for a deep run.

The FOX Sports researcher and betting analyst noted that “7th-seeded Michigan State is favored over 3rd-seeded Kansas State in the Sweet 16. It’s the first time a team seeded 7th or lower has been favored over a Top-3 seed since … 2015 when 7-seed Michigan State was a 1.5-point favorite over 3-seed Oklahoma and beat the Sooners 62-58 in a game played in the state of New York.”

DraftKings has Michigan State as a 2-point favorite in the game.

Overall, Tom Izzo teams are 18-6 outright in Sweet 16 or Elite 8 games, Fallica noted.

K-State and Michigan State will meet at Madison Square Garden at 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday in New York after they knocked off Kentucky and Marquette.
