One college football analyst is going to have East Lansing abuzz after his recent comments about the program.

Josh Pate, host of 247Sports’ The Late Kick with Josh Pate, answered a viewer question during a recent show regarding Michigan State’s status. The question: Are the Spartans capable of winning a national title in the next 10 years?

Pate’s response? Yes.

“My answer is yes, I think Michigan State can win a national title in the next decade,” he said. “I think that because I think there are things that are going to happen there under Mel Tucker that are irregular in historic nature. History has presented a certain set of limitations that college football has placed on Michigan State as a program.”

Tucker’s success in only his second season at Michigan State certainly has heads turning. He took a program that finished 2-5 in 2020 and turned it into an 11-win squad in 2021.

The Spartans also defeated Michigan in late October, the only regular season loss the Wolverines suffered.

In his short time in East Lansing, Tucker has found success recruiting through the transfer portal and at the high school level. He’s a perfect 2-0 against Michigan and appears to have the program trending in the right direction.

If Tucker is able to turn a 2-win team into an 11-2 squad in just one year, the future is going to be very bright in East Lansing.
