College GameDay’s Desmond Howard is picking Michigan State to beat Miami on Saturday and he seems pretty confident about it.

Howard likes what the Spartans have done on offense thus far as they’ve put up 80 points in their first 2 games and thinks that may be the deciding difference in this contest.

“I like Sparty because of what they do on offense,” Howard said on College GameDay. “Kenneth Walker III was a great pickup for them. He’s a home run hitter. They’ve got a guy, Jayden Reed, who is averaging 27 yards per catch. Are you kidding me? You knew that Mel Tucker was going to have a really good defense. His second year now, installing his type of defense, you knew they were going to be good on defense but I didn’t know they were going to be so explosive on offense.”

38 of their 80 points on offense this season came against Northwestern, which had one of the better defenses in the B1G in 2020. Miami’s is a bit better though, so this will be the Spartans biggest test yet.

If MSU knocks off the Hurricanes, they’ll be in strong consideration to be ranked in the next AP poll. Kickoff will be at Noon ET on ABC.
