A unique date and venue are set for the 2022-23 college basketball season. ESPN recently announced its game time for Gonzaga and Michigan State; which will be played on the flight deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln on Veterans Day.

The matchup is set for Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET with ESPN’s Dan Shulman and Jay Bilas having the call of the game. The network plans on celebrating veterans and active service members with special programming leading up to the tip.

As for the game, it’s a matchup of two perennial powers in college basketball. Michigan State went 23-13 (11-9 B1G) before falling to Duke in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season. Head coach Tom Izzo, one of the more recognizable coaches in the sport, holds a 666-267 record in 27 seasons in East Lansing.

Gonzaga is coming off a 31-1 season before falling to Baylor in the national championship game. Junior Drew Timme returns after averaging a team-best 18.4 points per game.

The Bulldogs will look to replace Chet Holmgren, who was drafted by the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder. Head coach Mark Few has a career 658-129 record in 23 seasons in Spokane.

This should be a good one around a great atmosphere.
