Michigan State is one of the surprises this college football season. The Spartans find themselves undefeated at 8-0, 5-0 in B1G play, and No. 5 in the AP Top-25 Poll.

So far, the Spartans have only beaten 1 team that is still in the AP Top-25 Poll. That team is No. 9 Michigan.

The Spartans now have their eyes set on Indy and potentially the College Football Playoff. They still have 2 AP Top 25 opponents left on the schedule. They are at No. 6 Ohio State and home vs. No. 22 Penn State.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, The Spartans will have a difficult time getting out of the season unscathed.

Here are the odds the Spartans have of winning their last 4 games, according to ESPN’s FPI.

  • at Purdue – 60.6%
  • vs. Maryland – 89%
  • at No. 5 Ohio State – 14.3%
  • vs. No. 22 Penn State – 59.7%

The schedule in the month of November is still pretty tough for the Spartans. The game against No. 5 Ohio State only gives the Spartans a 14.3% chance of winning and could determine their B1G and CFP hopes.

The games against Purdue and No. 22 Penn State also look to be difficult for the Spartans, according to ESPN’s FPI.

The Spartans will be on the road to face off against Purdue at 3:30 ET on ABC.
