Out of the NCAA transfer portal, Dowell committed to Pittsburgh after the Peach Bowl, but last week he announced he would not play for the Panthers and was still in the portal. The announcement from Miami (Ohio) says officially committed, but teams cannot officially announce players until they have signed with the program.
Dowell has 2 seasons of eligibility remaining. In 3 seasons with the Spartans, he tallied 83 stops and 5 pass breakups. This past season, Dowell logged 41 tackles and 3 PBUs.
