Former Michigan State defensive back Michael Dowell has re-entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. The ex-Spartan made the announcement last week, despite previously committing to Pitt.
Dowell posted a note on Twitter explaining that he is no longer committed to Pitt and will explore other options.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances I will not be attending the University of Pittsburgh,” Dowell wrote. “I am still in the transfer portal looking for a destination. I am a grad transfer S/OLB with 2 years of eligibility left. Contact me for further information/interest.”

Last season, Dowell appeared in 12 games for the Spartans, entering the transfer portal following the regular season. He was credited with 41 tackles and 3 pass break-ups during an 11-2 campaign for Michigan State.
In 3 years at Michigan State, Dowell was responsible for 83 stops and 5 pass break-ups.
