A veteran Michigan State defensive back has made the decision to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal. The news was reported on Wednesday by 247Sports.

Dominique Long has entered the portal as a graduate transfer after spending four seasons with the Spartans. He played in 44 career games while at Michigan State, with most of his experience coming on special teams.

Long is credited with making 51 career tackles in East Lansing, 41 of which were solo stops. He also broke up 2 passes and blocked a kick throughout his four years with the Spartans.

In 2020, Long appeared in all 7 of Michigan State’s games, totaling 13 tackles and breaking up a pass. His most productive season statistically came in 2019, when he had a career-best 16 tackles, a pass break-up and blocked a punt.

Michigan State finished the season with a 2-5 record, with wins over Michigan and Northwestern.

Long will be immediately eligible at his next destination as a graduate transfer. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
