For once, Michigan State got too much respect.

The Spartans, despite losing a bevy of NFL talent, were still expected to compete for the B1G East title and possibly a spot in the College Football Playoff.

But the 2016 season has been anything but that in East Lansing.

Entering the final two weeks of the season, the Spartans are heavy underdogs against Ohio State and Penn State. Unless they can pull off a major upset, they’ll finish 2016 with three wins, one of which to Furman and another to Rutgers.

Yahoo’s Pat Forde was asked the question on “The Dan Patrick Show.” Who is college football’s most disappointing team?

Michigan State:

It’s hard to argue with that. MSU’s free-fall was as unexpected as they come. The Spartans are in danger of finishing behind the likes of Indiana and Maryland in the division.

Was there any team that underachieved more than MSU?
