Details have emerged on how Michigan State’s spring game will operate this year.

Matt Wenzel of MLive.com reported on some of the details for Michigan State’s spring game, set for 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 16. The game will air on Big Ten Network.

The format will be a “15-period practice featuring individual and group drills during the first half and live scrimmage periods during the second half.” Last year’s format for the spring game was similar.

Michigan State is coming off an 11-2 season in 2021. That included a win over in-state rival Michigan and a victory over Pitt in the Peach Bowl. It was a huge bounce-back year after the Spartans finished 2-5 in 2020.

Mel Tucker will be entering his third season as the head coach of the Spartans. After such a quick turnaround, expectations are rising in East Lansing.
