Former Michigan State assistant named OC for FCS program
A former Michigan State assistant coach has been handed the key to the offense with an FCS program.
Ex-Spartans wide receivers coach Don Treadwell has been named the offensive coordinator at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which competes at the FCS level. He takes over that position after spending the previous two seasons (2018-19) in East Lansing.
Treadwell joined the Michigan State staff in 2018 but was not retained by new head coach Mel Tucker after former head coach Mark Dantonio stepped down in February. It was his second time on staff with the Spartans, also coaching wide receivers from 2000-02.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Arkansas Pine-Bluff and other FCS programs will not compete until the spring. The division decided to punt on a full schedule until after winter, but still allowed teams to schedule up to four games.
Treadwell has over 30 years of coaching experience. He was once the head coach at Miami (OH) from 2011-13.
