Nick Saban and Todd Grantham will reportedly be working together again. According to Matt Zenitz of On3 Grantham, who was fired from his position as Florida’s defensive coordinator last season, has accepted an analyst position at Alabama.

Grantham was on Saban’s Michigan State staff from 1996-98. Over the years, they have spoken fondly of their time working together.

“Todd is an outstanding coach, coached on our staff way back at Michigan State,” Saban said of then-Georgia DC Grantham in 2012. “That seems like a long time ago. But had a lot of good experience in the NFL. I’ve always been really close to Todd professionally and personally. … If you’re going to rank assistants, he’s one of the 2 or 3 best I’ve ever had on our staff. Did a phenomenal job for us.”

Grantham was at Mississippi State in 2017. Ahead of the Bulldogs’ game against Alabama, he reflected on his time with Saban.

“I’m really indebted to having the opportunity to work with Coach Saban when I did,” Grantham said on The Paul Finebaum Show. “The core things that I do now, or the beliefs that I have now as a coach really stems from that time frame. He certainly had an impact on my career and the thought processes that I have.”

A lot has changed since Saban and Grantham worked together at Michigan State. We’ll see if Grantham’s trip to Saban Rehab in Tuscaloosa leads to another on-field coaching opportunity.
