Ex-Michigan State basketball forward Adreian Payne passed away on Monday at the age of 31 years old. Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press confirmed the news.

Payne was at Michigan State from 2010 to 2014. He averaged 8.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 0.6 assists for his career. In his junior season, he led the B1G in free throw percentage, making 84.8% of his free throws that year. Payne was 2nd team All-B1G in 2013 and 2014.

Following his time at Michigan State, Payne went to the NBA after getting drafted in the 1st round by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2014 NBA Draft. He also spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves (2015-2017) and Orlando Magic (2017-2018) before playing overseas in Greece, China, France, Turkey, and Lithuania from 2018 to 2022.

Matt Charboneau of The Detroit News confirmed that Payne died in a shooting on Monday morning.
